Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Just another Edublogs.org weblog

New semester, new technology

Hi, AEHS AP Bio students…

In honor of the beginning of the second semester, let’s try something new: blogging.  I think it’ll be more useful than Facebook… and I think you’ll be more likely to use it, since it’s going to count for points! :)

Here’s the deal: I will post articles, links, videos, pictures, etc.  YOU will comment on them, thus extending our classroom discussions. You can even post things of your own. You will need to make at least 10 actions on the blog during the third quarter time period (comments, posts, etc.) in order to receive full credit on the assignment.  Comments which are not productive do not count towards your grade and can count against your grade at my discretion. Please stay on topic in order to advance the discussion.

Ground rules are as follows:

I don’t want you to use your full name. First name / last initial only, please.  It’s a safety thing.  If you prefer to make up an alias, that’s fine - but I obviously need to know your identity, so you’ll have to tell me that!

No inappropriate language. That means the obvious words (you’ve heard them in movies) and also the less obvious - like words targeting each other, etc.  In general, you should not say anything online that you would not say to the other person face-to-face while your parent is standing next to you and listening. In fact, I will be inviting your parents and AEHS teachers / administrators to read the blog, so keep that in mind while posting / commenting!

Good blog etiquette involves correct grammar and spelling. Please refrain from most abbreviations / online slang.  This is classwork and should be treated as such.  I really don’t want to be reading “LOL, Mrs H, ROFL about the glowing frogs!” Seriously, use the language properly.

Okay. Let’s go… fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be an exciting ride!!
